Episode 052: Cory Cooper Berens | Yoga For Youngsters | How Yoga Is Beneficial To Kids, Special Needs, Teens, Young Adult Athletes
Cory is a mother, an educator, and a calming presence.
About 11 years ago, her son went from typical to non-verbal. From eating Cheerios and saying Dada and Mama, to not being able to keep food down and loss of words. He became very frustrated. He was diagnosed with a form of autism.
Any parents worst nightmare in the moment.
Cory loves and has practiced yoga for many years. She began to take her son through various simple yoga breathing and pose exercises. Over time, her son’s frustration began to wane. The struggle began to shrink. She continued the yoga with him in conjunction with the other specialists.
The specialists were so surprised with the results of her use of yoga on her son, that they began to ask her how she does it so they can train others.
Truly inspiring to say the least.
From that, led to Cory building Yoga For Youngsters, working with youth, typical and special needs, in the classrooms of our local schools, and even working with teen and young adult athletes.
P.S. As you will hear from Cory on this week’s episode, her son is doing incredible. He is in middle school, no longer has an aid in class and will get going onto high school in a year or so.
