ON THIS EPISODE
“We promise not to interrupt your family during dinner time.” – Jay Lieberman
On this week’s episode, we hear from podcast founders Jay and Michelle Lieberman and learn what qualities make the ultimate team member.
As many of you hear already on the podcasts, you know that Jay and Michelle’s work is based on authentic relationships and concierge service in business. They genuinely care about all of their listeners, clients, charities, community building and friendships made along the way. It is not some small talk conversation for them, they go above and beyond for the people in their lives. Which brings up the question, ‘Why is it so important to only bring on new team members in their real estate business who espouse these same ideals?’
Jay and Michelle’s team operates unlike most in the industry. You will never catch them knocking at your door during dinner time, calling at 7am while your trying to enjoy your first cup of Joe, or randomly calling people on a do not call list bluntly asking “can we sell your home.” Just so everyone is aware, these three tactics are what your typical real estate agent performs and they are all reputation killers in the real estate industry. It’s demeaning and unprofessional. They vow to leave the business before you can find them knocking at your door. They firmly believe the client will call when they are ready.
During a recent meeting with a potential new team member, Rob, made a huge impression on Jay. And for a very different reason than you would expect. During the interview, he found out that Rob had to grow up and become the man of the house at age of 8 to take care of his two younger sisters while his mom worked twenty-hour days to put food on the table.
Two answers to Jay’s questions and one follow up question from Rob is all it took for Jay to realize that Rob had the DNA and soul of their real estate team. The million-dollar question was, “What would do if you were gifted $10,000?”
“I would make sure my rent was paid for 3 months, have enough food and give the rest to the boys and girls club,” Rob said.
Listen to hear why Rob waited so long to leave Philly. He will inspire you all to make a difference.
